DISCOVER LANZAROTE STAYING IN THE HEART OF PUERTO DEL CARMEN

AN APARTMENT SURROUNDED BY MAGNIFICENT PLACES

The complex is very quiet and is located in a sought after area in the town of Puerto del Carmen, just a few minutes walk from the harbour and nearby beaches. The area also has a supermarket which is only a 3 minute walk away. The presence of a typical Canarian restaurant stands out at the entrance of the complex, and offers dishes of all kinds all day long at favourable prices. However, for a variety of meals, the port has several restaurants and bars.

For me, a rental car is the best way to explore the island. There are many beautiful places of cultural interest, such as the Cesar Manrique Foundation, Jameos del Agua and Timanfaya National Park, or of course the beautiful Papagayo Beaches in the south. As the distances are not very long, you can plan all the destinations in day trips and take your time with the sightseeing.

Of course, there are also several companies that organise bus trips to all the tourist attractions, but usually in large groups and with less flexibility in terms of time and place of stay.

Something special for ocean lovers is a dolphin or whale watching excursion with Sea Safaris Lanzarote (www.seasafarislanzarote.com). The excursions take place with a modern motor catamaran in accordance with animal welfare regulations and meet all the standards required for the "Blue Flag" award. They take place in small groups, so early booking is required.

CULTURE

TIMANFAYA NATIONAL PARK

Las Montañas del Fuego are like a walk on the Moon on earth. They originated after the violent volcanic eruptions in the south of Lanzarote between 1730 and 1736 resulting in the Parque Nacional de Timanfaya. Las Montañas del Fuego have a deserted beauty, and a range of ochre shades that astound visitors. They seem small compared to one of Manrique’s powerful and fresh pieces of art, which combines, yet again, art, nature and humankind living in harmony.

CULTURE

JAMEOS DEL AGUA

Jameos del Agua is a place on earth where nature and mankind decided to come together.

It was César Manrique who knew how to envision and transform what used to be debris of a volcanic tube with lava flowing from Volcán de la Corona, on the north of the island, into a unique place in the world. It was his privileged mind and hands full of life, the ones that gave shape to the rough black basalt, a place where peace and quiet, harmony and beauty prevail.

CULTURE

CESAR MANRIQUE FOUNDATION

Initially founded by César Manrique in 1983, César Manrique Foundation (FCM) became operational in 1992. Its headquarters is at the artist’s former home at Taro de Tahíche, Lanzarote.

The building itself has considerable artistic value and significance as a work that embodies the essential characteristics of Manrique’s proposal to blend art and nature: ART-NATURE / NATURE-ART.

UNFORGETTABLE BEACHES

PAPAGAYO BEACH

Papagayo Beaches are the jewel in the crown of the beaches of Lanzarote. It is undoubtedly the most desirable bathing area of the island thanks to its fine golden sand and the colorful contrast of its waters. There are almost two kilometers in which you will find different coves called Playa Mujeres, El Pozo, Caleta del Congrio, Puerto Muelas and Papagayo.
